Weightlifting Fiji has made significant strides by having four of its coaches secure their International Weightlifting Coaching Licenses, a crucial step for national representation at international competitions. This accomplishment underscores the organization’s dedication to meeting global coaching standards.

The newly licensed coaches are Henry Elder, who serves as the head coach, Eremasi Qalibau, the vice president and assistant coach, Timothy Vakaruivalu from Suva Weightlifting, and Della Shaw Elder, who is the president of Weightlifting Fiji. Their licensure comes after they attended a coaching seminar in Samoa, coinciding with the reopening of the Oceania Weightlifting Institute, marking an important event for regional coaches.

This achievement not only aligns Weightlifting Fiji with international regulations but also enhances the capabilities of local coaches, which in turn benefits the athletes they mentor. With all federations now required to either develop domestic coaching accreditation programs or align with the International Weightlifting Coaches Accreditation Certification Program, Weightlifting Fiji is well-positioned for future international competitions.

Furthermore, this milestone fits into a broader initiative by Weightlifting Fiji to improve coaching techniques and athlete development. The organization is actively recruiting new athletes and engaging in various training camps and seminars aimed at skill enhancement and readiness for competition.

The proactive approach adopted by Weightlifting Fiji signals a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in the sport. The optimism surrounding these developments bodes well for the future, suggesting that the organization is on course to cultivate skilled athletes and achieve competitive success in upcoming international events.
