Over the weekend, several drug-related arrests were conducted for unlawful possession and cultivation of illegal drugs.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported the arrest of a 31-year-old man in Caubati after police found clear plastic bags containing white crystals, thought to be methamphetamine, alongside dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Driu stated that the suspect is also under investigation for bribery, as he allegedly attempted to offer a bribe to a police officer during his arrest.

In addition, four men were apprehended in Samabula and Sigatoka for possession of substances suspected to be methamphetamine.

Arrests linked to marijuana took place in Korovou, Tailevu, Lautoka, and Sigatoka. Notably, in Karoko, authorities discovered over 100 marijuana plants during an investigation into unlawful cultivation.

The police urge the public to report any suspected drug-related activities by contacting Crimestoppers at 919 or 917.
