Over the weekend, law enforcement made multiple drug-related arrests for illegal possession and cultivation of controlled substances.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that a 31-year-old man was apprehended in Caubati after police found clear plastic bags containing white crystals, suspected to be methamphetamine, and dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
Additionally, ACP Driu mentioned that the man is under investigation for bribery, as he allegedly attempted to offer money to a police officer during his arrest.
Further arrests involved four men detained in Samabula and Sigatoka for possessing white substances thought to be methamphetamine.
Arrests linked to marijuana were also made in Korovou, Tailevu, Lautoka, and Sigatoka. In a related case, illegal cultivation of marijuana was reported in Karoko, where authorities seized over 100 plants.
