Authorities made numerous drug-related arrests over the weekend, targeting unlawful possession and cultivation of illegal substances. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported that a 31-year-old man was apprehended in Caubati after police discovered clear plastic bags containing white crystals, suspected to be methamphetamine, alongside dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Driu noted that the suspect is under investigation for bribery, as he allegedly attempted to offer money to a police officer at the time of his arrest. Additional arrests linked to white substances, thought to be methamphetamine, occurred in Samabula and Sigatoka, leading to four individuals being detained.

Further arrests related to marijuana took place in Korovou, Tailevu, Lautoka, and Sigatoka, with a significant case of unlawful cultivation uncovered in Karoko, where over 100 marijuana plants were confiscated.

Officials encourage the public to report any suspected drug-related activities via Crimestoppers by calling 919 or 917.
