The heavy rain alert for Viti Levu, the Yasawa and Mamanuca islands, Kadavu, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups has been officially lifted, according to the Fiji Meteorological Service. The trough of low pressure that had been influencing the weather in these areas is now drifted eastwards. Although the alert has been canceled, residual clouds and showers may still affect certain regions until later today.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant as localized heavy rainfall can still occur, leading to potential flash flooding in low-lying areas. This ongoing caution is essential, especially as the community aims to prepare for any unexpected weather changes.

The lifting of the heavy rain alert offers some relief and allows communities to assess any impact from prior weather events. As conditions are projected to gradually improve, particularly in the western areas, there is optimism that residents can return to their regular activities safely.

The importance of monitoring the weather closely has been underscored during this period of fluctuating conditions. Communities are reminded that preparedness is vital, allowing them to adapt effectively to weather challenges as they arise. Overall, while weather patterns may still bring some uncertainty, the ability of residents to stay informed will help foster their resilience and safety during this transitional phase.
