The Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, has emphasized that water scarcity is a significant problem in the country, which the Coalition Government is dedicated to resolving.

During a parliamentary session, Tuisawau highlighted that the challenges extend beyond just infrastructure, particularly in light of climate change and periods of drought.

He noted that the government has implemented various measures to combat these issues. Among those measures are water rationing and scheduling programs designed to help communities manage water shortages effectively.

Additionally, Tuisawau mentioned the introduction of free water tank schemes that have been distributed to numerous rural and affected areas, with the program still accepting new participants. This initiative allows residents to store water, while another temporary solution involves the construction of temporary cofferdams.

Tuisawau assured that these efforts are part of ongoing work and that the government is committed to long-term solutions for water management.
