Two tourism properties have shut down due to issues with fresh water supply. Beachcomber Island Resort and Anchorage Beach Resort ceased operations earlier this month following a breakdown at the water plant, according to resort manager Atish Dip. He confirmed that all deposits from guests who had booked stays at the resorts will be refunded.
Dip mentioned that parts are being imported to resolve the issue. However, some sources claim that the actual closure date was October 11.
Marina Toledo, who had a reservation at one of the resorts, received notification about the closure and sought information about alternative island accommodations with similar rates. Instead, she was only provided with details about the closure and a timeline for her refund.
Beachcomber Island Resort, known for its legendary Tui Tai, has significantly declined from its former prominence under previous owners, the Costello family. Situated off the coast of Lautoka, the resort was once a popular destination for partygoers. According to information from Wikipedia, the island’s original name, Tai, was changed to Beachcomber Island in the 1960s to enhance its appeal to tourists.
