The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is addressing a supply disruption affecting customers served by the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant this weekend. The plant has been dealing with increased turbidity levels in the Waimanu River, caused by rainfall in the catchment area.
This elevated turbidity has led to a significant build-up of sludge within the plant, impacting the gearbox of one of the two clarifiers. As a result, WAF has been unable to restore water production to its normal capacity, leading to delays in resupplying those impacted.
“Our technical team is working around the clock to resolve this issue and restore water supply as swiftly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, especially for those who have been without water since yesterday,” stated a WAF representative.
WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg expressed gratitude to the community for their understanding and patience during this challenging time.
