The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has announced that the Savura Raw Water Pump Station was repaired and brought back online yesterday, but it had to be shut down again later that evening due to unresolved technical issues. This setback has resulted in a limited inflow of raw water to the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant, causing disruptions in water production and reservoir levels across various areas.
Residents in elevated regions are experiencing low water pressure and intermittent supply, with key affected areas including Upper Nagatugatu, Tacirua, and various lower zones from Lami to Panoramic. The specific neighborhoods suffering from these disruptions include:
– **Tamavua Reservoir Zone**: Namadi Heights, Princes Road, Rewa Street, Ratu Sukuna Road, Nailuva Road, Delainavesi, Panoramic, Waiqanake, and Togalevu.
– **Nagatugatu Reservoir Zone**: Wrong Turn, Sakoca, Upper Khalsa Road, Tacirua Heights, and properties near the Nagatugatu Reservoir.
– **Tacirua Reservoir Zone**: Tamavua Koro, Upper Ragg Avenue, Deovji Street,Tacirua Bus Garage, Amputch Street, LDS, Twomey Hospital, and Bel Air Road.
– **Dokanaisuva Reservoir Zone**: From Seventh Day Church Dokanaisuva to Tacirua Fijian School and Vunileba Settlement.
WAF has taken proactive measures by implementing targeted valve operations to ensure that essential areas continue to receive water supply. To further assist the communities greatly impacted by this situation, water carting services are being mobilized, prioritizing schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential infrastructures.
WAF teams are diligently working around the clock to resolve the pump issues, aiming to restore full inflow by midday today. Once the issues are fixed, focus will shift to stabilizing production and replenishing reservoir levels across the affected network.
The current water supply situation underscores the importance of community cooperation and preparedness. Residents are encouraged to store adequate water for essential needs and limit non-essential usage during this challenging period. Despite the temporary setbacks, the WAF remains committed to restoring reliable water service and ensuring public health and safety for all residents.
Overall, while this situation presents challenges, it also highlights the resilience of both WAF and the community in navigating through such disruptions, with a hopeful outlook for resolution and improved water services in the near future.
