The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that essential connection works will lead to water disruptions for residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor starting from midnight tonight and continuing until Sunday.
According to WAF’s Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg, the planned shutdown is necessary for important work on the pipeline connecting the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which in turn supplies the Wainibuku Reservoir.
Soderberg explained that the pipelines will be drained around midnight tonight to facilitate the work set to commence tomorrow. He noted that the area where the work will be conducted presents some challenges.
Furthermore, an ongoing evaluation of the worksite has identified extra risks that must be managed before beginning the project to ensure the safety of workers. If not properly addressed, these risks could potentially cause delays in the overall work schedule.
Residents are encouraged to prepare by storing sufficient water for their needs during the planned shutdown.
