“Water Supply Update: Key Reconnection Works Completed in Fiji”

The chief operating officer of the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), Seru Soderberg, announced that both contractors and WAF teams have successfully completed the reconnection of the Viria Water Supply to the Waila Water Treatment Plant system.

Soderberg mentioned that anchoring works commenced on Thursday, followed by connection and assembly tasks that began on Friday morning.

“The anchoring process will require some time for curing overnight, and given the current progress, we intend to start flushing, bleeding, and refilling the reservoirs, as well as restoration efforts starting tomorrow morning (Saturday),” he stated.

WAF expressed gratitude to its valued customers for their understanding and patience, particularly in heeding advisories about storing water for the weekend.

He acknowledged that many may be wondering why water supply is still available in certain areas. “This is because the reservoir levels have not yet fully depleted. We are managing the water levels through valve operations to maintain as much water in the reservoirs as possible, ensuring that supply lasts longer for everyone,” Soderberg explained.
