Water Supply Reconnection: What’s Next for Fiji?

The chief operating officer of the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), Seru Soderberg, announced that the reconnection of the Viria Water Supply to the Waila Water Treatment Plant has been successfully completed by the contractors and WAF teams.

Soderberg stated that anchoring work commenced on Thursday, followed by connection and assembly activities on Friday morning. He mentioned that the anchoring process will require some time to cure overnight, and given the progress made, the team plans to start flushing, bleeding, refilling reservoirs, and restoring services starting Saturday morning.

WAF expressed appreciation to its customers for their understanding and patience, particularly regarding the advisories to store water for the weekend. Soderberg acknowledged customer concerns about the continued water supply, explaining that reservoir levels have not yet fully depleted. He emphasized that they are managing the reservoir levels through valve operations to maintain sufficient water supply for as long as possible.
