Water Supply on the Mend: What’s Next for Fiji?

The chief operating officer of the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), Seru Soderberg, announced that the team has successfully completed the reconnection of the Viria Water Supply to the Waila Water Treatment Plant system. He noted that anchoring works commenced on Thursday, followed by connection and assembly efforts on Friday morning.

Soderberg explained that the anchoring process requires an overnight curing period, and based on the current progress, they intend to initiate flushing, bleeding, and refilling of reservoirs the following morning (Saturday). He expressed gratitude towards customers for their patience and for heeding advisories to store water for the weekend.

He addressed concerns regarding the continued water supply for many customers, explaining that the reservoir levels have not yet been fully depleted. The WAF is managing the situation through valve operations to maintain water levels and ensure a longer-lasting supply for everyone.
