Residents in Nasinu and Flagstaff have been urged to prepare in advance by storing water due to upcoming maintenance work at the Nasinu reservoir inlet, scheduled for next weekend. According to a statement from the Water Authority of Fiji, these rectification works will involve the installation of a new DN600 line valve at the reservoir inlet.
This initiative is part of the Water Authority’s ongoing commitment to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the water supply systems in the Nasinu region. The planned operations will necessitate the temporary closure of the DN600 line valve that services both the Nasinu and Flagstaff reservoirs, impacting customers who rely on these water sources.
The maintenance is set to begin on January 18 and is expected to conclude by January 19. Areas that will be affected include Kinoya, Laucala Beach, Vatuwaqa, Raiwasa, Raiwaqa, Raiwai, Caubati, lower Cunningham, Fletcher Rd, Grantham Rd, Laucala Bay, Vesi Street, Domain, Queen Elizabeth Drive, as well as the Suva central business district.
The notification serves as a reminder of the importance of proactive measures by residents in ensuring they have sufficient water supplies during the maintenance period. This work not only aims to minimize future disruptions but also reflects a positive step towards improving the overall water infrastructure in the area.
