The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is alerting residents in areas frequently affected by high turbidity from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant to be ready for possible water supply disruptions. The authority is concerned that the current heavy rainfall may adversely impact the quality of water in the source streams, which can disrupt the treatment process and reduce overall water production.

The following locations are likely to experience these disruptions: Mika Drue Place, Pathik Crescent, Mead Road (including Volavola Road, Evetts Place, and Top Shop Road), elevated areas along Lakha Singh Road and Sakoca Road, and parts of Tacirua Road like Raibevu Road and Tacirua Heights. Additionally, residents of MH Superfresh, Upper Mead Road, Princes Road (between Twomey Hospital and Loa Street Junction), as well as Upper Delanivesi Areas and Upper Lami Village Road, Kalekana Settlement Road, and Muaivuso Village are advised to prepare for interruptions.

WAF assures the community that their teams are actively monitoring the situation and are committed to maintaining production levels while minimizing any disruption to the water supply.

While the heavy rains pose challenges, the proactive measures taken by WAF demonstrate a dedicated effort to address the situation effectively. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepared, reflecting a community effort to manage the impacts of severe weather events.

In summary, the Water Authority of Fiji has issued a warning regarding potential water supply disruptions due to heavy rains, affecting several areas. The authority is taking steps to manage the situation and ensure minimal impact on residents.
