Police have once again stressed that splashing water on moving vehicles is illegal. This reminder comes after several motorists raised concerns since the start of the New Year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu mentioned that a video circulating on social media portrays a bus driver who has recently been targeted by such actions. He warned, “These behaviors can lead to accidents, resulting in injuries or even fatalities. We urge everyone to celebrate responsibly and refrain from throwing water at moving vehicles.”

Driu indicated that those participating in this activity could face investigations under the Minor Offences Act 1971 and the Crimes Act 2009, specifically under Negligent Acts Causing Harm. He emphasized the severity of the consequences, stating that the offense could escalate to charges of murder, depending on the injuries caused to victims.

Furthermore, Driu pointed out that children may not fully comprehend the repercussions of their actions and stressed the importance of parental guidance to educate them about these dangers.

In light of this situation, it’s essential for communities to work together to ensure everyone’s safety during festive occasions. Awareness and education can help prevent potential accidents while allowing people to enjoy their celebrations responsibly.
