The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has advised residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor to stockpile water as maintenance work is set to take place. The maintenance is scheduled from this Friday to Sunday, which will lead to temporary water disruptions.
WAF noted that a recent assessment of the worksite has uncovered additional risks that need to be addressed prior to beginning the maintenance to ensure the safety of the workers. They warned that if these risks are not resolved beforehand, they could cause delays in the planned work.
Residents are encouraged to prepare by storing enough water to use during the anticipated water outage. The works are intended to facilitate essential connections for a new DN900mm Gravity Main running from the Waitolu Reservoir to the existing DN600mm DICL Rising Main connected to the Waila Water Treatment Plant that supplies water to the Wainibuku Reservoir.
The areas impacted by this disruption will include zones supplied by the Wainibuku Reservoir and other related reservoirs, such as Tovata Reservoir, Nagatugatu Reservoir, Tacirua Reservoir, Dokanaisuva, Coloisuva Reservoir, Kalabu Reservoir, Nasinu Reservoir, and Flagstaff Reservoir.
