Water Play or Dangerous Crime? Police Warn Motorists

Spread the love

Police have once again emphasized the illegality of splashing water on moving vehicles. This warning follows recent complaints from several motorists since the start of the New Year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu revealed that a video circulating on social media depicted a bus driver who fell victim to this reckless behavior. Driu stated, “Such actions can cause accidents which can lead to injuries or death. Please celebrate responsibly and don’t throw water on moving vehicles.”

The police are prepared to take action against individuals who engage in this conduct under Section 15 of the Minor Offences Act 1971, as well as for Negligent Acts Causing Harm under Section 269 of the Crimes Act 2009. Driu noted that the severity of the offense could be escalated to Murder, depending on the extent of injuries incurred by those affected.

He further highlighted the lack of awareness among children regarding the potential repercussions of their actions, stressing the significant role parents play in educating their children about these dangers.

This article serves as a timely reminder for communities to engage in safe and responsible celebrations. As we embrace festive moments, fostering awareness and safety should remain a priority to ensure that everyone stays safe while enjoying the festivities.
