The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that essential connection work will lead to water disruptions for residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor, starting at midnight tonight and continuing until Sunday.
Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg stated that the planned shutdown is necessary for critical work on the pipeline linking the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which in turn supplies the Wainibuku Reservoir.
Soderberg indicated that the pipelines will be shut down at midnight to allow for dewatering before work commences tomorrow. He noted that the challenging terrain at the worksite has revealed additional risks that need to be addressed to ensure the safety of the workers.
If these risks are not managed properly, they could cause delays in the project. Fijians are encouraged to prepare by storing sufficient water to last throughout the anticipated shutdown.
