Water Disruption Alert: Fijians in Suva-Nausori Corridor Must Prepare

The Water Authority of Fiji has advised residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor to prepare for a temporary water disruption due to scheduled maintenance activities. These maintenance works are set to take place from Friday to Sunday.

The Authority stated that recent assessments of the worksite identified additional risks that need to be addressed prior to commencing the maintenance to ensure worker safety. Failure to mitigate these risks could potentially delay the project.

Residents are being encouraged to store sufficient water to last through the planned interruptions. The maintenance aims to facilitate essential connection work for a new DN900mm Gravity Main linking the Waitolu Reservoir to the existing DN600mm DICL Rising Main from the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which supplies the Wainibuku Reservoir.

The areas expected to be affected include those supplied by the Wainibuku Reservoir and other connected reservoirs such as Tovata, Nagatugatu, Tacirua, Dokanaisuva, Coloisuva, Kalabu, Nasinu, and Flagstaff Reservoirs.
