Two tourism properties have closed due to recent challenges in fresh water supply. Beachcomber Island Resort and Anchorage Beach Resort ceased operations earlier this month after a breakdown at the water plant, according to resort manager Atish Dip. He confirmed that all deposits made by guests booked at the resorts will be refunded.
“Parts are being imported,” Mr. Dip added. However, some insiders claim that the resorts actually closed on October 11.
Marina Toledo, who had a reservation at one of the resorts, inquired about alternative accommodations with similar pricing following a notification regarding the closure. Instead of the information she sought, she received details about the duration of the closure and the refund process.
Once a popular destination for party-goers, Beachcomber Island Resort, which is known for its connection to the legendary Tui Tai, has fallen from its former glory under previous ownership by the Costello family. Situated off the coast of Lautoka, the resort was renamed from Tai to Beachcomber Island in the 1960s to enhance its appeal to tourists, as noted by an online encyclopedia.
