Two tourism properties have shut down due to ongoing challenges with freshwater supply. Beachcomber Island Resort and Anchorage Beach Resort ceased operations earlier this month after a breakdown at the water plant, according to resort manager Atish Dip.
All deposits for guests who had booked at the two resorts will be refunded, Mr. Dip confirmed. He mentioned that parts are currently being imported to address the issue.
However, there are conflicting reports regarding the closure date, with some insiders claiming the resorts closed on October 11.
Marina Toledo, a guest who had booked a stay at one of the resorts, expressed her desire for updates about alternative accommodations with similar pricing after receiving notice of the closure. Instead, she was provided with details about the closure timeframe and the refund process.
Beachcomber Island Resort, known for its legendary Tui Tai, has seen better days under previous ownership by the Costello family. Located off the coast of Lautoka, it was once a popular destination for party-goers.
The island, originally named Tai, was renamed Beachcomber Island in the 1960s to enhance its appeal to tourists, as noted by an online encyclopedia.
