Labasa midfielder Christopher Wasasala has been celebrated as a hero by fans following his pivotal role in securing a victory for his team in the inter-district championship last Saturday. His decisive kick enabled the Babasiga Lions to triumph over Navua in a nail-biting penalty shootout, concluding with a score of 5-3 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Supporters rallied around Wasasala, chanting his name as the team paraded through the town in celebration. He expressed his determination for the Babasiga Lions to clinch the championship, especially as the team prepared for the penalty shootout.
“I told the boys that we will win the championship; I was 110 percent confident that I would deliver a win for Labasa,” Wasasala remarked. He acknowledged the crucial role that the passionate presence of fans played in motivating the team.
