Extra Bula FC striker Christopher Wasasala is optimistic about the team’s progress following a tough second round campaign in Papua New Guinea. He emphasized that despite the numerous challenges, particularly related to security measures that restricted player movement, the squad has managed to adapt and develop both confidence and consistency on the field.
Reflecting on the team’s experience, Wasasala stated, “I think during this second round I’ve learned a lot. The boys have improved a lot from the first round. We are learning from our mistakes and the team is coming stronger slowly.” His acknowledgment highlights the team’s journey and the personal growth of each player.
The playing environment in PNG has indeed been unique, with players spending significant time confined to their hotel rooms outside of training and matches. However, Wasasala insists the team used these circumstances as an opportunity for growth rather than an excuse for underperformance. “It was a challenge for us too. PNG is a different atmosphere. But it was not an excuse. The boys adapted well,” he remarked.
A primary focus for Wasasala moving forward is improving consistency in their performances. He noted, “It’s just consistency for the boys. We have to adapt to all the games we face, the challenges and the type of game we’re playing. I think the boys have improved a lot game by game.” This mindset signals a proactive approach to tackling future matches.
As the team prepares for its next challenge, facing Vanuatu United, Wasasala anticipates a heightened level of intensity. Fans will have the opportunity to catch the match live on FBC 2, promising an exciting showdown as Extra Bula FC continues to strive for excellence on the field.
