Warriors Face Tough Challenge Ahead of Vatulele 7s

The TEMC Warriors rugby team is preparing for the Vatulele 7s tournament, which kicked off yesterday at the Vatulele District School grounds. Coach Semi Kunatani, affectionately nicknamed “The Beast,” shared insights into the team’s preparation, noting that they had just returned from the Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s Carnival in Taveuni—a four-day event.

Kunatani mentioned that the team had only one day of training before heading to Vatulele, which posed some challenges. One major issue was the lack of time for the players to rest and recuperate after their previous competition. Despite these circumstances, Kunatani expressed a determined mindset, explaining that while the limited rest time was a hurdle, it was not an excuse for performance limitations.

Another significant challenge highlighted by Kunatani was the geographical distance between players’ homes, which impacted their ability to practice together consistently. Given that the players live far apart, they faced difficulties coming together as a cohesive unit.

Looking ahead, Kunatani expressed optimism for the team’s future, indicating plans to compete in the next leg of the Fiji Bitter 7s series in Vanua Levu early next year. This suggests a commitment to continued development and participation in future tournaments.

Overall, the TEMC Warriors’ resilience and dedication, despite the hurdles faced, reflect the spirit of rugby and the passion for the sport. The team’s determination to rise above their challenges serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of teamwork and perseverance in athletics.
