Several rural roads in the Central and Northern Divisions are currently closed due to flooding, prompting authorities to urge travelers to exercise extreme caution and adhere strictly to all road closures.

In the Central Division, Savu Road in Naitasiri is experiencing significant flooding, as well as routes through Viria Village, Vatulili, and Navulokani, which are dealing with flooded crossings. Additionally, Nabukaluka Delailasakau Road faces multiple issues, including a landslide and washouts, further complicating travel.

The situation is similarly precarious in the Northern Division, where Coqeloa Road has a flooded crossing at Qelemumu, and Vunivutu Road is also affected by flooding. Other impacted roads include Boubale Road at Qawa Crossing, Sevaci Korotasere Road at Nayagalevu Crossing, Dreketilailai Road at Konasami Crossing, and Vuniyalayala Road at Vuniyalayala Crossing.

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is actively monitoring the situation and is committed to providing updates as the situation evolves.

In light of the challenges posed by the flooding, it is encouraging to see the FRA’s proactive approach to monitoring and addressing road conditions. This can help ensure the safety of travelers and minimize potential disruptions to transport and access in the affected areas. Staying informed and heeding warnings is vital during such adverse weather conditions, and collaboration with local authorities will enhance community safety during these trying times.
