The Wardens secured a hard-fought 10-5 victory against BLK Lavidi Brothers during the cup final held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori on Saturday.

Taivoce praised the competitive spirit of their opponents and expressed gratitude for the strength his team displayed throughout the match. He emphasized the importance of focus and teamwork, particularly during halftime discussions with the players. The manager also acknowledged the remarkable performance of his young squad, highlighting their resilience in both attacking and defensive plays.

In terms of future plans, Taivoce indicated that the team would take a week off to recharge before gearing up for upcoming tournaments, including the Labasa sevens next year. As a reward for their efforts, the Wardens walked away with a prize of $5,000, while the runners-up, Lavidi Brothers, received $3,000.

Netava Koroisau, the Wardens’ halfback, reflected on the high expectations set for the team, stating that the victory serves as a much-appreciated gift for their colleagues in the corrections service. Koroisau’s late try in extra time ultimately secured the win after both teams ended regulation time tied at 5-all. He noted the crucial role of family support throughout their tournament journey and expressed his commitment to continue training for upcoming competitions, having recently debuted for the national sevens squad in Dubai.

In summary, this match not only showcased the competitive spirit of the teams involved but also highlighted the camaraderie and determination of those working within the Fiji Corrections Service. The success serves as a reminder of the positive impact of teamwork and dedication, with promising prospects for the Wardens as they prepare for future challenges.
