Fiji national footballer Tevita Waranivalu has been appointed as the interim head coach of Rewa Football Club following the departure of Rodicks Singh, who has moved on to become the Director of Football for Ba Football Club. The announcement was made through the club’s social media platforms, emphasizing the decision was made in consultation with the Board and senior members of the Rewa football community.

Waranivalu, known for his leadership and passion on the field, now faces the significant task of steering the Delta Tigers during a pivotal point in their 2024 season. He will be supported by assistant coach Priyant Manu, who remains in his role to help maintain stability within the team, while captain Setareki Hughes continues to lead the players on match days.

“The club will not rush into appointing a permanent coach,” Rewa stated, choosing to focus on upcoming matches with trust in their current leadership group. This approach reflects the club’s commitment to careful planning, ensuring that they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead without compromising on quality.

Waranivalu’s first major challenge comes this Sunday as Rewa squares off against Labasa in what promises to be an exciting top-of-the-table matchup at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori. A victory in this key match could see Rewa ascend to the top of the Extra Premier League standings, heightening the stakes for both teams.

Supporters will be keen to observe how Waranivalu navigates this transition from player to coach, with hopes that the experience and unity of the leadership team will help solidify Rewa’s position in the title race. Fans and the football community are optimistic about the prospects of this new direction for the club, emphasizing the potential for success motivated by a strong collaborative spirit among players and coaches alike.
