Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, is set to present his Ministerial Statement today in Parliament regarding the technical and financial investigation into Walesi PTE Limited. This statement comes following a detailed report released by the Office of the Auditor-General last month, which will first be reviewed by the Cabinet before being discussed in Parliament.

Kamikamica indicated that depending on the findings of the report, there may be a referral to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption. Since 2015, approximately $125.6 million has been invested in the establishment and rollout of Fiji’s satellite digital television platform.

This anticipated discussion in Parliament signifies a commitment to accountability and transparency in government expenditures and operations. The outcomes of this investigation could lead to improvements in governance and the potential strengthening of regulatory mechanisms.

The focus on responsible management of public funds is a positive step towards ensuring that investments in technology benefit the citizens of Fiji.
