Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has announced that the Office of the Auditor-General’s report on Walesi PTE Limited is set to be released within this week. In an interview with FijiLive, Kamikamica stated that the findings would be reviewed by the Cabinet before being presented in Parliament.
He indicated that based on the report’s conclusions, there is a possibility that it could be forwarded to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption for further examination. Notably, he mentioned that since its inception in 2015, a substantial amount of $125.6 million has been invested to establish and launch the satellite digital television platform.
This forthcoming report signifies an important step towards transparency and accountability in the management of public funds, reinforcing the government’s commitment to enhancing regulatory oversight in such sectors. It is a hopeful indication that appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that investments in innovative technology serve to benefit the Fijian people optimally.
