Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has announced that the Office of the Auditor-General’s investigation report on Walesi PTE Limited is expected to be released this week. In comments to FijiLive, Kamikamica indicated that the report will be reviewed by the Cabinet before being presented to Parliament. He noted that the findings of the report could lead to a submission to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption, depending on the results. Since 2015, a significant investment of $125.6 million has been made to establish and roll out the satellite digital television platform.
This development showcases the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in managing public resources. The impending release of the audit report represents a critical step toward ensuring effective governance and may lead to improved oversight of future projects. It is a hopeful indication that the administration is serious about addressing any potential issues that may arise from the investigation, thereby reinforcing public trust.
