Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications Manoa Kamikamica is set to present his Ministerial Statement regarding the technical and financial investigation of Walesi during a parliamentary session this morning.

In an interview with FijiLive, Kamikamica disclosed that the investigation report prepared by the Office of the Auditor-General will first be reviewed by the Cabinet before it is officially presented in Parliament. This report was made public by the Auditor-General’s office last month.

Kamikamica also indicated that the findings might lead to further action, including possible submission to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption, depending on the results of the investigation. He highlighted that since 2015, a total of $125.6 million has been allocated for the establishment and rollout of the satellite digital television platform.

This upcoming presentation underscores the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in public finances, particularly in significant projects like Walesi. It offers a hopeful outlook that the investigation will lead to improvements and potential reforms aimed at strengthening the integrity of public financial management.

Stay tuned for updates on the report and its implications.
