Wales Head Coach Warren Gatland expressed uncertainty about the team’s future following their inability to break their winless streak against Fiji in Cardiff. With tough matches ahead against the Wallabies and reigning Rugby World Cup champions South Africa, Gatland voiced his disappointment over the missed opportunity for a crucial victory.

“Hopefully, it’s next week, but it was supposed to be today,” Gatland remarked in the post-match interview, highlighting the team’s frustration over several contentious refereeing decisions. He noted, “We are frustrated because it was definitely a game we were going out there to win, and we have come up a bit short.”

Gatland acknowledged Fiji’s unpredictable style of play, admitting that they allowed the opposition to regain momentum during the match. “Knowing what Fiji are like, they hang in the game, they throw the ball around, and then they get excited by those sorts of things. Then they were able to put us under all sorts of pressure,” he explained.

Despite the setbacks, Gatland stated that there were some positive takeaways from the performance, emphasizing the need for the team to focus on upcoming challenges.

In looking ahead, Wales can take this experience as a learning opportunity. Each match is a chance to grow and adapt, and with such competitive opponents approaching, they have motivation to improve and come back stronger. With determination and strategic adjustments, the team can still turn their season around.
