Waisale Serevi Shares Heartfelt Update After Health Scare

Sevens rugby icon Waisale Serevi is making a strong recovery following cardiac treatment in India. In a recent social media update, Serevi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka as well as his family and friends for their unwavering support and prayers.

“I feel much better and stronger now and am looking forward to finishing the year strong,” he shared. He also expressed his thankfulness for divine guidance and protection for him and his family, referencing a biblical verse.

Serevi detailed his experience leading up to the treatment. He reported feeling pain in his back and chest for two days, which prompted him to seek medical assistance. Following advice from the President of India Rugby, he underwent a full medical examination.

The tests, which included assessments of his heart, kidneys, lungs, and blood, returned clear results, a relief for Serevi who noted that thankfully, he did not require surgery.

He extended his appreciation to Prime Minister Rabuka and all his supporters, stating, “I do appreciate you all.” Earlier reports from the Manipal Hospital confirmed that Serevi’s coronary angiogram revealed minor coronary artery disease but that he was stable and expected to be moved from the ICU by Wednesday.
