Waisale Serevi Hospitalized: Rugby Legend’s Urgent Health Update

Fiji 7s rugby legend Waisale Serevi is currently hospitalized in India due to chest pains. Serevi, who serves as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s 7s teams in India, played a pivotal role in guiding the women’s team to a silver medal at the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy in Nepal. He was admitted to the hospital on October 10.

Rugby India released a statement on social media wishing Serevi a successful recovery, promising to provide further updates within the next 24 hours. They noted that he remains stable and in good spirits.

According to Manipal Hospital, where Serevi is being treated, a recently conducted coronary angiogram indicated minor coronary artery disease. The hospital reported that he is stable and expected to be moved out of the ICU soon.

Additionally, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka extended his best wishes to Serevi, expressing hopes for a swift and complete recovery. He stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Get well soon.”
