The Waidamudamu Golf Group kicked off the new year with a celebratory gathering at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, Suva, bringing together members for a day of golf, camaraderie, and reflection. Notable attendees included Speaker of Parliament Filimone Jitoko and Indonesian Ambassador Dupito Simamora.

Group president Sai Tokalau expressed gratitude for the support and participation of the members, acknowledging that while some could not attend, the spirit of community remained strong. He took a moment to reflect on the group’s charitable contributions over the past year, highlighting their commitment to philanthropy.

“Our group has always been charitable throughout the year. Every time we play golf, we fundraise for charities,” Tokalau stated. He noted that last year’s donations benefited significant organizations such as Dilkusha Home, Homes of Hope, and the Chevalier Boys Hostel. He reiterated a hopeful vision for 2024, aiming to enhance their charitable impact.

The Waidamudamu Golf Group boasts a diverse membership from various ethnicities and high-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. The group has been engaging in charitable endeavors for the last three decades, demonstrating that golf can be more than just a sport—it can also serve as a platform for giving back to the community.

As of now, there are no scheduled golf tournaments until next month, but the foundation of this group showcases both a love for the game and a commitment to social responsibility, encouraging a culture of generosity and support among its members.

This event not only marked the beginning of a new year but also reinforced the group’s mission to leave a positive impact on the community, inspiring hope and connection through both sport and service.
