Vuci Village, part of the Vanua of Naivirourou in Tokatoka Tailevu, is set to implement a strategic plan for the years 2024-2028, aimed at enhancing resilience and traditional leadership, ultimately leading to empowerment and prosperity for the community.
Joji Butadroka, the Secretary and Board Member, highlighted the significance of adopting a bottom-up approach in development, which resonates with the government’s recent move to decentralize decision-making processes. He noted that the previous strategic plan served as a valuable learning experience for the community in navigating challenges, including natural disasters and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The objective of this five-year initiative is to reassess traditional leadership with a focus on prioritizing the community’s needs, fostering an empowered and progressive society. Tui Vuci, Ratu George Kavoronavatu Bakosi, echoed the importance of economic empowerment in their strategic focus.
Discussions with government representatives have centered on the specific needs of the village, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively. Both leaders emphasized that promoting local initiatives and leveraging natural resources are crucial for stimulating economic growth and ensuring sustainable development in Tailevu.
This proactive approach demonstrates Vuci Village’s commitment to not only overcoming past challenges but also building a resilient future for its residents, ensuring that the community thrives economically and socially.
By focusing on collaboration, empowerment, and sustainable practices, Vuci Village is paving the way for a brighter future, promoting hope and progress within the community.
