Volavola Takes Flight: Joining the Leicester Tigers!

Former Flying Fijians flyhalf Ben Volavola has signed with the Leicester Tigers for the 2024/25 season, as confirmed by the Premiership Rugby club on Monday. Volavola, who can play both flyhalf and fullback, has an extensive professional career with over 200 games, including 38 Test caps and participation in two Rugby World Cups for Fiji.

For the past seven seasons, he has played in France, representing Racing 92, Perpignan, and Agen. Leicester Tigers head coach Michael Cheika expressed his satisfaction with adding a player of Volavola’s caliber to the squad, noting his knowledge of northern-hemisphere rugby and valuable international experience.

Volavola shared his enthusiasm about joining the club, stating, “I am honoured and excited to join this club, and this talented group. I jumped at the chance to come to Leicester and I’m excited to see what we can do this season.”

Originally from Sydney, Australia, Volavola started his professional career with the NSW Waratahs, coached by Cheika, after representing Australia U20s at the 2011 Junior World Championships.
