Vodafone Fiji has been selected as the vendor for Fiji’s e-ticketing system, following a comprehensive tender process.
Minister for External Trade and Communications Manoa Kamikamica confirmed the development yesterday.
“Contract negotiations between the bus companies and Vodafone are currently underway,” said Mr. Kamikamica.
“These negotiations are expected to conclude within the next few weeks.”
Previously, Mr. Kamikamica announced that there were no plans to reinstate cash payments for bus services.
A team from Mr. Kamikamica’s ministry has been in discussions with Transport Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau, telecommunications providers, and bus companies to find the best way forward to improve Fiji’s e-ticketing system, which has received numerous complaints.
The e-ticketing team is also working on addressing challenges faced by users of the e-ticketing system, including the need for better network connectivity.
