Vodafone Fiji has announced an extension for the upgrade deadline of eTransport cards to July 15, allowing users more time to access new features such as convenient top-ups via the eTransport app. To facilitate the upgrade process, cardholders need to visit a Vodafone retail outlet or authorized agent armed with the appropriate identification documents.
Students looking to upgrade blue or yellow cards must present a recent letter from their school along with their FEMIS ID, while adults will need valid identification. This upgrade is part of a significant initiative aimed at modernizing the public transportation system and addressing previous issues related to functionality, top-ups, and service accessibility.
The recently extended approach aligns with Vodafone’s commitment to improving customer experience, including the establishment of over 1,000 top-up points nationwide. These enhancements come in response to feedback from users expressing difficulties navigating the upgrade and top-up processes.
Vodafone also reassured that the first registration and initial replacements will be free of charge, alleviating some financial concerns. Following a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, Vodafone is actively working to expedite the upgrades and alleviate long wait times. The company aims to roll out further improvements that may lead to an improved public transportation experience for all Fijians.
Commentary on the ongoing situation suggests that, despite present challenges, the overall initiative is a step toward a more efficient transport system that could ultimately benefit all commuters in Fiji. There remains a shared optimism that the continued collaboration between Vodafone, government, and other stakeholders will enhance the future of public transportation in the region.
