Mesake Vocevoce’s rise in the rugby world has been notable since he joined the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua as a development player last year. The 21-year-old lock from Narewa, Nadi, has made significant strides on the field, becoming a crucial asset to his team. Vocevoce, who initially played football in school, realized his dream of representing Fiji by donning the national white jersey.
Boasting impressive physical attributes, he attributes his growth not just to his natural talent but also to increased confidence from playing alongside seasoned teammates. “It’s my second year in the Drua now, I’ve seen a lot of growth, especially with more confidence during my games,” Vocevoce remarked, emphasizing his enhanced communication and understanding of the game.
His dedication led him to represent the Flying Fijians, debuting against Tonga in September during the Pacific Nations Cup. Since joining the Drua, he has participated in 20 matches and made eight appearances for the national team. Currently, he is gearing up for an exciting match against the formidable Crusaders in Suva, expressing eagerness to face off against All Blacks veteran Scott Barrett.
