Former Flying Fijians player and current Racing 92 winger Vinaya Habosi has been released from police custody after being arrested on allegations of domestic violence. Reports from France indicate that he may face suspension from his club.
Habosi’s release followed the decision of his partner not to file a complaint against him. Witnesses reported that a dispute between the couple escalated when Habosi allegedly pushed his wife, who was holding their baby at the time. It was claimed that after she fell, he struck her in the back of the head. Fortunately, their baby was unharmed, and his partner declined assistance from emergency services, showing no visible injuries.
Habosi reportedly had been drinking and contends that he did not push or hit his wife. In response to the situation, Racing 92 issued a statement acknowledging the allegations against Habosi and stated that they would withhold further comments until more information is provided by the relevant authorities. If found guilty, it is expected that Habosi’s contract with the Top 14 league team could be terminated. He joined Racing 92 in 2023.
