Approximately 100 individuals from various backgrounds came together to participate in the Viksit Bharat Run, a symbolic gesture of unity and commitment to service, held on September 28, 2025, in Suva, Fiji. This event was organized by the High Commission of India in Suva in collaboration with MY Bharat, under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The run was not limited to Fiji but was celebrated simultaneously in over 150 locations worldwide, making it a truly global affair dedicated to the themes of service, fitness, and sustainability. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Indian diaspora, local community members, students, professionals, and well-wishers of India.
The chief guest for the occasion was Sashi Kiran, the Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, while Ram Madhav, president of the India Foundation, served as the guest of honor. High Commissioner Suneet Mehta spoke about India’s aspiration to become a developed nation by 2047, emphasizing the strong relationship between India and Fiji. His address highlighted the community’s shared dedication to progress and well-being, reflected in the active participation of local residents and the Indian diaspora in the event.
Aligned with the Seva Pakhwada, celebrated from September 17 to October 2, the run illustrated the progress India has made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in areas like infrastructure, healthcare, technology, education, and sustainability. The Suva community reaffirmed its commitment to the vision of a developed India, termed Viksit Bharat, by actively taking part in the run.
With the theme “Run to Serve the Nation,” participants traversed a 5-kilometer route despite challenging weather conditions, exemplifying a strong sense of community and unity. More than just a fitness event, the occasion celebrated the spirit of service, encapsulating the ideals of Seva Bhav and reinforcing the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. It also underscored India’s Swadeshi ethos, promoting self-reliance, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility.
The remarkable turnout turned the run into a grand success, showcasing commitment to a brighter future for all involved.
