“Veteran Star Returns: National Team Selection Surprise!”

Veteran Rewa player Samuela Kautoga is set to return to national duties for the Tri-Nations FIFA International Friendlies in Fiji this September.

The 37-year-old had retired from international football in 2017 after helping Rewa clinch the Battle of the Giants tournament in Lautoka. However, his impressive recent form with the Delta Tigers has led national selectors to recall him.

Kautoga played a pivotal role for Rewa in the OFC Champions League, scoring crucial goals. He was also a standout performer during the group stages of the Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice-Cream Battle of the Giants in Suva over the weekend, where he scored twice in Rewa’s 5-0 victory over Ba.

Alongside Kautoga, the 26-member squad includes Suva goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva, Rewa’s Patrick Joseph, Navua’s Rahul Krishna, Labasa’s Melvin Mani, Lautoka’s Muni Shivam Naidu, and New Zealand-based striker James Hoyt.

The team will begin their training camp on August 18 at the Fiji FA Ba Academy, with the final squad announcement scheduled for August 30.

The Digicel Bula Boys will face the Solomon Islands national team on September 2 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva and the Hong Kong-China national team on September 8 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
