Rod Dominish, a seasoned participant in hashing events, has expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming inaugural Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital-sponsored Pan Asia-Pacific Hash, set to take place in Fiji in September 2027. With almost 20 visits to Fiji under his belt, Dominish’s connection to the event adds significant value.
Starting his hashing journey in 1967 with the Sydney Hash House Harriers, he went on to found the Wagga Wagga Hash House Harriers in 1974 and has remained dedicated to this chapter throughout the years. Currently, in his 80s, Dominish is enjoying a family vacation at the Wyndham Resort on Denarau Island.
As he reflects on his extensive experience in international hashing events, Dominish looks forward to the Pan Asia-Pacific Hash and commends the sponsors for their involvement. The event is scheduled to occur in Nadi from September 16-18, 2027.
Event director Dr. Ram Raju, who is also an emeritus grand master of the Nadi Hash House Harriers, believes that September is an ideal time for the event. He highlighted several factors influencing the decision to host it in 2027, including the opportunity for the Fiji contingent to participate in other related events leading up to the Hash, such as the Aussie Nashash in March 2025, the 20th edition of the Pan Asia Hash in Taiwan in November 2025, and the Interhash in Prambanan-Mendut, Indonesia, in May 2026.
Dr. Raju adds that hosting the event during the off-peak season in Fiji could lead to more affordable hotel rates and favorable weather conditions. The collaboration among the three local Hash chapters — Nadi, Malolo, and Hospital Hash House Harriers — showcases the community spirit and commitment to making the event a success.
This event not only promises to attract hashing enthusiasts but also highlights the warmth and hospitality of Fiji, reinforcing its position as a favored destination for international gatherings.
In summary, the inaugural PSH Pan Asia-Pacific Hash in 2027 is shaping up to be a landmark event, thanks to the efforts of dedicated individuals like Rod Dominish and Dr. Ram Raju, paving the way for a successful and memorable experience for participants. With careful planning and community involvement, the event promises to be a celebration of camaraderie and fitness in the scenic backdrop of Fiji.
