Rod Dominish, an experienced hasher with nearly 20 visits to Fiji, has expressed his enthusiasm for the first-ever Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital-sponsored Pan Asia-Pacific Hash, set to take place in Fiji from September 16-18, 2027.

Starting his running journey in 1967 with the Sydney Hash House Harriers, Dominish established the Wagga Wagga Hash House Harriers chapter in 1974, remaining dedicated to it for decades. Now in his 80s, he is currently enjoying a holiday with his family at the Wyndham Resort on Denarau Island.

“I have traveled globally to participate in various international hash events, and this marks my 20th trip to Fiji,” Dominish shared. He expressed gratitude to the event sponsors for their support at this pivotal moment.

The inaugural PSH Pan Asia-Pacific Hash will be hosted in Nadi, with event director Dr. Ram Raju, the emeritus grand master of Nadi Hash House Harriers, stating that September is an ideal time for the event. The timing aligns with other regional events, including the Aussie Nashash in March 2025, which will provide an opportunity for the Fiji contingent to engage with fellow hashers from Australia and beyond.

Looking ahead, Dr. Raju noted that the 20th Pan Asia Hash will take place in Taiwan in November 2025, followed by the Interhash in Indonesia in May 2026. These international gatherings are expected to contribute to the success of the PSH Pan Asia-Pacific Hash in 2027.

The choice of September is also strategic, as it falls within Fiji’s off-peak season, allowing for better hotel rates and pleasant weather conditions. The collaborative effort behind the event involves three local Hash House Harrier chapters — Nadi, Malolo, and Hospital Hash House Harriers.

This inaugural event not only represents a significant occasion for the hasher community but also promises to showcase the beauty and hospitality of Fiji. By engaging with the global hashing community and fostering local participation, the PSH Pan Asia-Pacific Hash has the potential to create lasting connections and celebrate the spirit of hashing in this picturesque destination.

Overall, the anticipation surrounding this event points toward a bright future for the hash house running culture in the Pacific region.
