“Veteran Goalkeeper Makes Waves in Fiji’s World Cup Squad!”

Evergreen Labasa goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau has secured a place in the 29-member extended squad for the Bula Boys as they prepare for the remaining matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers. The 42-year-old goalkeeper earned the Golden Glove at the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC), leading the Babasiga Lions to victory in Lautoka.

Joining him in the squad are in-form striker Christopher Wasasala and reliable defender Sekove Naivakananumi. Nadi goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua has also been included in the team, replacing Rewa’s Isikeli Sevanaia, who has been dropped due to disciplinary reasons.

The team is scheduled to commence training on Sunday, October 29, at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba.

The Fiji squad includes the following players: Joela Biuvanua, Simione Tamanisau, Jerome Narayan, Akuila Mateisuva, Filipe Baravilala, Sekove Naivakananumi, Samuela Kautoga, Scott Wara, Sterling Vasconcellos, Antonio Tuivuna, Gabriele Matanisiga, Josh Laqeretabua, Ivan Kumar, Kavaia Rawaqa, Setareki Hughes, Merrill Nand, Rahul Krishna, Sitiveni Cavuilagi, Mohammed Raheem, Tevita Waranaivalu, Dave Radrigai, Leroy Jennings, Aporosa Yada, Nabil Begg, Thomas Dunn, Roy Krishna, Sairusi Nalaubu, Etonia Dogalau, and Christopher Wasasala.
