The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are set to kick off their fourth season in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific, with Isoa Nasilasila and Kitione Salawa once again named in the starting lineup for Round One. This marks a remarkable journey for the duo, who played a significant role when the team first debuted against the Blues in 2022.
Head coach Glen Jackson acknowledged the significance of having both players in the starting side once again, highlighting their growth and dedication to the team over the years. He initially overlooked the milestone but quickly praised their development during their time with the Drua. “I didn’t remember that they’d been there. I’d say their skin folds are down, number one,” he stated.
Jackson commended the professionalism and commitment both players have shown throughout their five seasons with the Drua. He noted Nasilasila’s impressive record of 51 games and their experience with the Flying Fijians at various World Cups, calling them “brilliant” for the club.
Their evolution from budding talents to vital leaders within the squad underscores the importance of stability and experience in building a strong team culture. The coach expressed his appreciation for their continued presence, stating, “It’s great that they’re obviously still here and running out again in Round One of year four. So, great news.”
The Fijian Drua are set to face Moana Pasifika at 3.35pm tomorrow at Churchill Park in Lautoka, with the match available for fans to watch live on FBC Sports. This opening game presents an exciting opportunity for both the players and supporters as the team aims for a successful season.
