Verata House has emerged victorious at the 31st Druavesi Golf Tournament, which took place at the Fiji Golf Club. The tournament, formatted as a 4-man Ambrose event, concluded with Verata House achieving an impressive net score of 132, narrowly overcoming the defending champions, Rewa House, who finished in second place. Bau House secured a spot in the top three.
A total of 13 teams participated, including 8 from Queen Victoria School Old Boys (QVSOB) and 5 from alumni groups representing Marist Old Boys, Grammar Old Scholars, and Labasa College Old Scholars. The QVSOB teams battled for the Druavesi Trophy, while visiting alumni contenders competed for the Druavesi Cup in the School of Origin Competition.
The tournament attracted a large gathering of old boys who filled the course with energy and support for their teams, creating a lively atmosphere of camaraderie. Ratu Isoa Gavidi, the captain of the winning Verata House, expressed immense pride in his team’s accomplishment. He noted that the victory reflected not only their skill and teamwork but also the incredible support from their alumni.
“We are honored to bring the trophy home this year,” said Gavidi, emphasizing the strong spirit and community at Druavesi.
Looking ahead, organizers are optimistic about the next tournament in 2025, aiming to encourage more young alumni to participate in the sport and uphold the rich traditions of the tournament.
