Verata House has triumphed in the 31st Druavesi Golf Tournament, which took place at the Fiji Golf Club. This year’s competition, structured as a 4-man Ambrose event, saw Verata House achieve an impressive net score of 132, edging out the defending champions, Rewa House, who took second place, while Bau House finished in third.
The tournament featured a total of 13 teams, with 8 from Queen Victoria School Old Boys (QVSOB) and 5 from various alumni groups, including those from Marist Old Boys, Grammar Old Scholars, and Labasa College Old Scholars. The QVSOB teams competed for the distinguished Druavesi Trophy, while the visiting alumni schools aimed for the Druavesi Cup in the School of Origin Competition.
The event attracted a large turnout of old boys, who traveled the course, cheering for their teams and creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with camaraderie and support.
Ratu Isoa Gavidi, the captain of the victorious Verata House, expressed immense pride in the achievement. He remarked, “This victory is a testament to the resilience, teamwork, and commitment of Verata House. It wasn’t just about skill on the course but also the unwavering support from our old boys who came out in numbers to cheer for us. The spirit of Druavesi is alive and well, and we are honored to bring the trophy home this year.”
As this year’s tournament concludes, organizers are excitedly looking forward to 2025, hoping to see even more young alumni engaging in the sport and continuing the cherished tradition.
The Druavesi Golf Tournament remains a significant event in the Old Boys’ calendar, uniting participants from diverse backgrounds to celebrate sportsmanship, fellowship, and enduring school pride.
This event not only showcases the talent of past students but also emphasizes the strong community bonds that continue to thrive long after graduation. It serves as an inspiration for future generations to partake in such traditions and fosters a sense of identity and togetherness.
